Moon Cycle Harmony Tea

A tea blend formulated with organic herbs and spices specifically chosen for female hormonal support, easing cramps and congestion and symptoms of PMS, and promoting healthy flow.

Mugwort: Traditionally used for indigestion, depression, anxiety and stress, Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) is also a widely used herb for menstruation, to help with ‘bringing on’ or regulating a period.

Red clover: As an alterative, and due also to its anti-inflammatory properties, Red clover (Trifolium pratense) has traditional use for inflammatory disorders of the skin, such as acne, psoriasis and eczema.

The leaves and flowers of Red clover contain isoflavones, plant compounds known as phytoestrogens, which have oestrogen-like hormone balancing effects and may be useful for the relief of menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes and mood swings.

Ginger: Ginger (Zingiber officinale) has been used in many cultures across time as a potent remedy for digestive complaints. Studies have shown that ginger can relax muscular spasm and reduce menstrual cramping and period pain due to its anti-inflammatory prostaglandin reducing properties.

Rose petals: Not only do rose petals look beautiful in a tea blend, they have also been shown to have uses for inflammation, stress, depression and dysmenorrhoea (painful menstruation). Rose petals may help relieve pain and regulate the menstrual cycle, soothe symptoms of PMS and traditional use tells us that they may even enhance fertility and libido!

Licorice: Traditionally used for its anti-inflammatory, gastroprotective, adrenal trophorestorative, and antiviral properties (to name just a few!). Medicinally, Licorice is thought to be helpful in conditions of androgen excess in females, dysmenorrhoea, endometriosis, PCOS, ovarian cysts and uncomfortable symptoms of menopause.

The beautifully sweet root of Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) is often used as a ‘synergist’ in a herbal blend, used to amplify the therapeutic benefits of all the herbs in the mix, to enhance absorption and increase bio-availability.

Chamomile: Chamomile(Matricaria recutita) has a long tradition of medicinal use for dysmenorrhoea, anxiety, insomnia, nervous irritability in children and adults, headaches, emotional stress, IBS, flatulence, dyspepsia, nausea and bloating.

Use: Use as per instructions on the label. Can be steeped for longer for a stronger brew, or overnight in the fridge as an infusion, to be enjoyed the next day as a cool refreshing beverage. Add honey or sweetener of choice for a sweet note.

Safety considerations:

Mugwort is contraindicated in pregnancy; Red clover should be used with caution during pregnancy, and in conditions that are aggravated by increased levels of oestrogen such as endometriosis, and uterine fibroids (as tea has such a small amount/low dose of herb in it, these effects are unlikely to be seen when consumed in regular doses); Licorice is best avoided for those with high blood pressure (as tea has such a small amount /low dose of herb in it, these effects are unlikely to be seen when consumed in regular doses); Chamomile should not be consumed by those with an allergy to plants in the asteraceae family.
